Genelle at Colombo 05

Genelle is a series of retail stores that was established to sell shoes and handbags made by veteran Sri Lankan designers. In 2010, the family-owned business opened their flagship store on Duplication Road, Colombo 03. Each store was mostly a renovation of an existing building, followed by creating a gathering space with vibrant interiors that highlighted trendy local products. Over a 12-year period, the architect and the client developed a long-term relationship, and it was a privilege to see a company grow from its inception to what it is today.
